A hospital census intelligence platform for HCA Healthcare, built at UA Innovate 2026. It forecasts census across facilities and writes plain-English briefings with a local Mistral 7B — so nothing leaves the building.
The problem
Hospital staffing leans on census forecasts, but the data is sensitive and the tooling is fragmented. Cloud AI is often a non-starter for patient data, which rules out most off-the-shelf approaches.
Approach
Ensemble forecasting over 172K records across 10 facilities, with natural-language briefings generated by a local Mistral 7B served through Ollama — every inference stays inside the hospital network.
Results
A working platform delivered at UA Innovate 2026 that turns raw census data into staffing-ready forecasts and plain-English briefings, fully on-premise.
